Southern Front Situation

The media is slowly leaking details of the magnitude of the Hurricane Katrina casualties. Rather than wait for them, lets read what the foreign media is showing about it. The dead are tens of thousands, "Calling for the immediate deployment of regular combat troops in New Orleans, David Vitter, a Louisiana Republican senator, said: "My guess is that it [the death toll] will start at 10 000, but that is only a guess." His guess is on the same order of magnitude as Russian reports that say 50,000.

As for the down play of disease and corpses, "Russian Military Analysts are reporting this morning that the Military Leaders of the United States have authorized the mass burnings of thousands of dead in their most devastated Southern Regions in an effort to prevent an expected outbreak of mass diseases."

FEMA is not responding except on camera. Local fire and rescue were prohibited from responding, "Michael D. Brown, Under Secretary of Homeland Security for Emergency Preparedness and Response and head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), today urged all fire and emergency services departments not to respond to counties and states affected by Hurricane Katrina without being requested and lawfully dispatched by state and local authorities under mutual aid."

Not contented to prevent tax paid services, they stopped volunteers. "A group of approximately 1,000 citizens pulling 500 boats left the Acadiana Mall in Lafayette this morning (Weds.) and headed to New Orleans with a police escort from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Department."

"The "flotilla" of trucks pulling boats stretched over five miles. This citizen rescue group was organized by La. State Senator, Gautreaux from Vermilion Parish." "The group was comprised of experienced boaters, licensed fishermen and hunters, people who have spent their entire adult life and teenage years on the waterways of Louisiana," where they were stopped by "agents of the La. Dept. of Wildlife & Fisheries."

"A young DWF agent strolled through the boats and told approximately half of the citizens that their boats were "too large" because the water had "dropped during the night" and that they should turn around and go home."

More examples of federal attempts to gain full control from Aaron Broussard, "We had Wal-Mart deliver three trucks of water. FEMA turned them back. They said we didn’t need them." "We had 1,000 gallons of diesel fuel on a Coast Guard vessel docked in my parish. When we got there with our trucks, FEMA says don’t give you the fuel."

The damage to gulf oil production is severe, "Hurricane Katrina ruined 58 oilrigs in the Gulf of Mexico, a representative of the American Petroleum Institute said on Friday. He said 30 oilrigs could not be restored."

The British Sunday Times said, "Europe will dip into its emergency stocks of gasoline to help the United States through an energy crisis that began when Hurricane Katrina smashed into Gulf coast refiners, EU governments said yesterday. France, Germany, Spain and Italy said they were ready to send fuel across the Atlantic in an operation coordinated by the West's energy watchdog, the International Energy Agency. A US government official confirmed Washington had asked for help and said most of the gasoline would come from Europe."

Ham radio volunteers are investigating what they claim is federal jamming. "Ham radio operators are reporting that communications in and around New Orleans are being jammed. In addition, perplexed ham radio operators who were enlisted by the Federal government in 911 are not being used for hurricane Katrina Federal relief efforts."

They concluded that "We can now report that the jamming of New Orleans' communications is emanating from a pirate radio station in the Caribbean. The noise is continuous and it is jamming frequencies, including emergency high frequency (HF) radios, in the New Orleans area." They continue, however, we now have a new unconfirmed report that the culprit may be the Pentagon itself. The emitter is an IF (Intermediate Frequency) jammer that is operating south southwest of New Orleans on board a U.S. Navy ship."

"More reason to suspect FEMA was given by The President of Jefferson Parish Aaron Broussard who said on Meet the Press "that FEMA cut his parish's emergency communications lines and he had to have his sheriff restore the severed lines and post armed deputies to ensure that FEMA did not try to cut the communications lines again."

Cell phones are being disrupted, "Sprint blocked all cell phone calls from the Gulf Coast region to points north and west. Calls were permitted between Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida but no calls could be made to Washington, New York, or Los Angeles"

Attacks on the Army engineers are being downplayed: Contractors were ambushed on a bridge and initial reports by NBC from battle tested troops was at least eight dead. It was revised to only 5 or 6.
