Sarkozy Sniper Shot by His Own Rifle

Jun 27, 2008 12:05

The mystery of what happened to the soldier at Ben Gurrion is summed up in the article: "From the Daily Telegraph, we learn that the border policeman shot himself in the head with his rifle, also an unnatural task. He was said to have killed himself in front of his "guarding partner," and two female soldiers, who -- the media informed Israelis -- fainted and had to be taken to the hospital. It was the first time in memory that IDF soldiers -- male or female -- were reported to have fainted."
  1. The Russians reported that Asaad Ghanan was killed by French security, and that one French agent died in the fight.
  2. Two IDF women were alleged to have fainted but have not been heard from since last being seen lying on the tarmac.
  3. Ghanan's spotter was found huddled over the body, if indeed a spotter is used in urban security--which they do not seem to be.
  4. He Arkancided with an M-16 sniper variation only 100 yards from target after target had passed closer than 100 yards.
He was from Beit Jan, which is a Palestinian town in the al Jalil Region of The Galilee, and being given to the PA. Being a loyal Israeli, any of the VIP's would be fair game--all were about to make him a prisoner in his homeland--like the Junta on Capitol Hill.

This story is just like the Yeshiva shooting story. In that incident the attackers managed to move heavy cases of ammo into the school and spent considerable time shooting boys without interruption from nearby police. In Ghanan's case the security already knew that the sniper was dead and simply moved their charges rather than protected them.
