Reason Number 1 to be an Illegal Alien

Homeland Security chief Michael Chertoff gave every freedom loving American the best reason to renounce US citizenship ever. He said, "We're going to continue to enforce the law. It's going to be tough," Michael Chertoff said. "We don't really have the ability to enforce the law with respect to illegal work in this country in a way that's truly effective."

Why should an American want to live with every transaction being tracked, police stopping cars, having their income taxed, having to register their property, prove they are responsible, get a permit to travel or build a house, and even register and number newborns? It would be better to be an illegal alien.

What better reason to renounce US citizenship than the tyranny that Chertoff defends.

Independence Day should be celebrated as a warning to Homeland Security, with loud explosions, gunfire, fires, and mobs of gun-totting men carrying unregistered, illegal assault rifles past their bunkers.

That would be a meaningful Independence Day.
