Mike Huckabee is Bill Clinton--lite. The arguing among the evangelicals may be indicating that the church has begun to collapse and is splitting into the Statist and Libertarian camps.
The absurdity of the Christians is that when Clinton made socialist comments; that evangelicals were repulsed by the man. Today it was said about George Bush III that Huckabee believes that we need "to care for prenatal “life” and also education, health care, jobs and other aspects of “life.” “It is a new kind of evangelical conservative position.” Not exactly -- it's what Billy Clinton said.
When 60% of the so-called pastors argue that the church is Israel, there is clearly some question about their reasoning. When about the same number agrees to manipulate their congregations into compliance with federal policy, there is also reason to doubt their loyalty to a Jew-king.
Naturally the Pastors want to use the government as a weapon to solve "social problems" instead of preaching--It's easier. That explains why the utter vileness of their governments never crosses their lips. Pat Robertson, Gary Bauer, and Paul Weyrich and many more are participants and will never forsake the tyranny no matter how detestable they become.
The best weapon forged against these men is already being used. Money. Their highest justification and the standard for what is good and reasonable is collapsing. Their entire financial edifice is becoming like the Twin Towers, but the Pastors will only sound the alarm when the offerings also collapse.
That Nemesis of the Pastors, Pat Buchanan, said "Now the folks from whom we borrowed to buy all that oil and all those cars, electronics and clothes are coming to buy the country we inherited. We are prodigal sons, and the day of reckoning approaches."
Yes, a day of reckoning is needed and the ones needing to be reckoned with are first the Pastors, and second, their "ministers" in government.
